Certified Professional Doula

Job Summary
We are looking for a Certified Professional Doula who is passionate about working with families of all types. The Doula is responsible for contacting and scheduling a visit with families within 24 hours of assignment. Doulas contracted at Birth Supporters United must provide prenatal visits, labor support, and postpartum visits dependent upon the type of contract held between Birth Supporters United and the family. Doulas will be responsible for documentation of visits with the family and of the laboring process throughout their time supporting the family. Doulas will also be responsible for staying up to date with medical processes and changes within child birth and maternal health in order to provided optimum care. Doulas may be asked to become certified in Spinning Babies within 1 year of contracting with Birth Supporters United.
Education/Training Requirements
- High School Diploma/Some College (preferred)
- Completion and Certification of Doula certifying program or PCHW program
- Completion of a Child Birth Educator course (preferred)
- Completion of Spinning Babies training (preferred)
- Certification in Hynobirthing a plus!
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 births attended as a shadow under supervision (preferred); AND-
- Minimum of 2 births as primary doula under supervision
- Some experience in education or teaching
- Minimum of 1 year working with families and infants
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Verbal and Written communication skills
- Customer Service
- Must have reliable transportation

Certified Lactation Counselor

Job Summary
We are looking for a Certified Lactation Counselor who is passionate about working with families of all types. The Lactation Consultant is responsible for scheduling and visiting families within the first three days of their birth in order to offer latch assistance and education on breastfeeding. The Lactation Consultant will also be responsible for teaching private and group breastfeeding classes as needed based on the need.
Education/Training Requirements
- High School Diploma/Some College (preferred)
- Completion and Certification of a lactation counselor course
- Completion of a Child Birth Educator course (preferred)
Experience:
- 1 year of experience as Lactation Consultant (preferred)
- Minimum of 5 classes taught in a group setting; OR-
- Minimum of 1 year teaching in any other setting
- Minimum of 1 year working with families and infants
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

- Customer Service
- Must have reliable transportation
