I apologize for the delay in announcing our statement with regard to the revolution happening within our country. I wanted to make sure that I had the exact words to portray my stance and the stance of those who work on my team; thereby portraying the stance of Birth Supporter United.
Our company’s entire focus has been unity; unity within your medical team, unity within your birthing space, unity within your home, and unity within the world. Today we are no different.
Unity requires for each side to come together and be whole. For as long as American leaders refuse to acknowledge and change the criminal justice system, which has allowed innocent black and brown people to be killed by the very people who should be saving them…. we will not have obtained unity.
As an organization that represents advocacy and standing up for the rights of the people we serve we want to let it be known that we are standing up for those within the black and brown community. As birth workers it is our sole duty to be the megaphone for the person who’s voice has been made small. The voices of black and brown people within our country need a megaphone now and we absolutely will be one for them.
We will be raising funds in order to support protestors who have been arrested in the DC, MD, and Northern VA area during their time on the front lines. If you would like to donate to this cause you can do so here
We are eternally grateful to those whose passion and willingness have given them the courage to stand up for what is right. We hope that many others will join us on this journey until we do, in fact, acquire unity.
Until Then,
Patricia Liggins, Founder
